Knitters of all experience levels gather at the LW Public Library each Friday evening for an hour of knitting, conversation and support. Open knitting is free and welcome to all knitters with some experience, very little instruction is provided.
Participants in the free open knitting group may not attend the beginner's knitting class without paying the class fee. Open knitting is held each Friday night, 5:30 in the library's main lobby. Open Knitting is a gathering of knitters and crotcheters of all experience level who enjoy the company and encouragement of other fiber crafters. There is no charge for this program. The Open Knitting group creates squares for the Warm Up America Project the first Friday of each month. This effort began only nine months ago. Lake Wales’ knitters and crocheters have donated 256 blocks, enough to make 5 blankets. The Lake Wales Open Knitters thank those who have donated blocks, yarn, needles and hooks to this ongoing project. This twice-weekly class is led by a Certified Yoga Instructor each Monday and Wednesday, 5:30 to 6:45 pm in the Lake Wales Public Library's Meeting Room. Wear loose-fitting clothing and bring water if desired. Class fees are $10 per week, $32 for 4 weeks or $60 for 8 weeks of instruction. (All fees are collected by the City of Lake Wales Recreation Department). Class fees should be paid at the City of Lake Wales Cashier's Office, 201 West Central Avenue, LW. Cash, checks or major credit cards are accepted. Fees may be paid by cash or check at the class. Credit cards are only accepted at Cashier's Office. Computer 101 is a basic how-to computer class. Instructors, Jodi Adam and Alicia Edwards introduce: creation of email accounts, navigating the internet and services available on your computer.
